“He Would Go to the Moon for Us”: Dr. Esther Okyere Gyebi and Siblings Honor Late Father, Mr. Teddy Moses Okyere

Renowned philanthropist Dr. Esther Okyere Gyebi, wife of contractor Mr. Kofi Gyebi Job, and her siblings have paid a glowing tribute to their late father, Mr. Teddy Moses Okyere, describing him as a man of selfless love and unwavering sacrifice.

At the final funeral rites held in Atwima Koforidua, the children remembered Mr. Okyere as a father whose priority was always their welfare.

“Whiles growing up our father showed us nothing but genuine love. He made sure we were fed, protected, and even if it meant going to the moon to provide for us, our father Okyere will gladly do that for us,” they said in their tribute.

The family said Mr. Okyere dedicated his life to shaping them into responsible people, a mission he pursued until his final days.

“He dedicated his life to see us become better people and it’s sad he didn’t stay long enough to witness the plans his seeds have grown into,” the siblings noted, fighting back tears.

Beyond his children, Mr. Okyere was remembered for his kindness to everyone he met. “He was very kind and magnanimous not only to his children but everyone he encountered,” the tribute read. His quiet generosity and counsel, they added, touched lives far beyond his immediate family.

Though grief was heavy, the family said they have found comfort in faith. “We did our best to keep you with us, but we could not conquer death during this difficult moment. We now understand God had His own divine plans for you, He has called His faithful servant to rest,” they stated.

Closing their tribute, the children said the world feels different without him. “Today, the world feels colder, our hearts carry a weight we never thought we would have to bear this early. We thought you were going to be with us a little longer. We gather here not to say goodbye, but to honor a man whose life was a living prayer and testimony.”

Mr. Teddy Moses Okyere was laid to rest on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Atwima Koforidua School Park, with the funeral continuing on Sunday with a thanksgiving service. Dignitaries, clergy, traditional leaders, and hundreds of mourners joined Dr. Esther Okyere Gyebi, Mr. Kofi Gyebi Job, and the bereaved family to bid farewell.
